Rebel Belle: Rachel Hawkins | Review | FTM

Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can't get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she's charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper's least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him—and discovers that David's own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y'all beg for more.

- Goodreads Synopsis

Unlike most of my reviews this one is SPOILER-FREE

I have always had an interest in reading Rebel Belle by: Rachel Hawkins. It always seemed like something that I would enjoy and thankfully I did! I loved it so much that I tweeted Rachel Hawkins on twitter and she just so happened to tweet me back! This will be one of my shorter reviews considering I am making it 'spoiler free'

Rebel Belle is possibly one of the most unique and entertaining books I have ever read. It is so easy to read that it feels like a film playing in your mind. I like to describe Rachel Hawkins writing in this book as very fluffy, it's just so easy to be quickly grasped by the writing and that pulls you into the story. The story however is brilliant, Rachel did a wonderful job with the way she told everything.  There was humour, drama, romance, action and of course the fantastical element. She combined so many elements into one book which only made this book even more fantastic then it already was.

This is a book that I would recommend to people who are trying to get out of reading slump. (Charlotte if you're reading this, then I would recommend you read this to get out of your slump! Hannah you should read it too!) Yes, I do usually say don't read any fantasy novels that are dense but this book isn't. It is a fantasy novel but it does hold modern elements. As I said before, it's so easy to follow the story. Rachel does a great job with the world building of the story.

Even though this cover is quite misleading, it is very action packed. Not only does it have this element but there are so many twists and turns! This book was not at all predictable in the fantastical part of the story, yes in the romance you can kind of predict it but it's still adorable. This is one of those books where it can suit everybody's tastes. For example, if you love romance then you will like this book, action, mystery, fantasy there are so many possibilities! It is not directly targeted to a certain gender, or audience. Do not double cross this book because it's a wonderful, wonderful book!

Overall this might be my favourite book of 2015 so far! It was so entertaining and it was so difficult to try and write something that's spoiler-free, but I really want people to read this book and discover the beauty of this book on their own. This book will suit so many of your tastes and it's just a whole  new adventure just by reading it. I'm sorry if I was very vague, but this is one of those books where I wanted it to remain SPOILER FREE! I would rate it a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

  2. I've heard a few good things about this book, but you make it sound like the absolute perfect fantasy novel for me! Sometimes I struggle to get into really hardcore high fantasy, but I love a good fantasy that takes place in our world. And you make this one sound so fun and easy to read. I especially love how you said it's like a film playing out in your mind - I've encountered books like that before (Unremembered by Jessica Brody), and I love the feeling of reading one. I may have to add Rebel Belle to my TBR!
